Aluminium Scaffolding

(SANS 51004:2009)

The main reason for selecting aluminium towers to provide access is the lightness of the components and the consequent ease of assembly compared to the heavier sections of steel scaffold structures. In mobile form, aluminium towers are easy to move from point to point. Aluminium towers provide a stable and firm work platform for a wide variety of applications.

Bridging Platforms

These platforms are used to extend working areas. They are bridged between two towers and overlap
600 mm onto each tower. Tubes and couplers are used for hand and knee rails.

Kwikstage Scaffolding

(SANS 10085-1:2004)

This scaffolding is used predominantly by the construction industry. With a load capacity
of 240 kg/m2, it can be used for new building, brickwork and blockwork. Our components
are safe, versatile and interchangeable.

STANDARDS
Standards are manufactured from 48 mm x 3,35 mm HT tube. "V" pressings are placed 500 mm apart along the length of the standard.

1000 5,10
1500 7,60

LEDGERS
Ledgers are placed horizontally and secured at right angles to each standard. Ledgers are placed at 2000 mm height increments, but additional ledgers can be inserted to be used as guardrails. Ledgers are manufactured from 48 mm x 2,65 mm HT tube. Ledgers clip onto "V" pressings on the standard.

Note: On sloping ground, the lowest ledgers, called foot ties, are fixed with swivel couplers and follow the slope of the ground.

Tubular Steel Frame Scaffolding

(SANS 10085-1:2004)

These towers use interlocking frames and are built in increments of 900 mm. They are light and can be erected by two workers in a short time. They can also be used in mobile form in conjunction with castors.

Maximum free standing heights allowed based on a maximum base to height ratio:

Inside static towers:
4,00 x minimum base dimension
Inside mobile towers: 3,50 x minimum base dimension
Outside static towers: 3,50 x minimum base dimension
Outside mobile towers: 3,00 x minimum base dimension

When the safe base to height ratios are exceeded, or
there are high lateral or vertical loads, the tower must
be secured to an adjacent structure.

Maximum height when secured is 12600 mm and both sides of the tower need to be tied. Vertical spacing of the ties must not exceed three times the width of the tower.

Cantilevers

A cantilever is a structure that projects horizontally into space and is supported only on one end to the scaffold structure. A Cantilever is used when the surface area or an adjacent structure does not allow the scaffolding to be built close enough to the work area.
